Plasma-derived medicinal products

An industrial player

In 2011, LFB continues to increase its capacity

2010 was a crucial year for LFB in terms of increasing capacity, with the commissioning of the LFB unit in Lille, dedicated to new-generation human immunoglobulin, which resulted in the launch of the drug in September 2010.

LFB doubled its immunoglobulin end of purification capacity and will be able to market approximately 5 tons of immunoglobulins in 2011. In recent years, LFB has pursued clear growth in all its markets, and growth almost seven times higher than the industry average in the French market.

Notre Groupe/Cuves

A total of 60 million euros have been invested since 2006 into both the group's French sites in order to optimize the production tool.

 - In Ulis, where plasma is registered and intermediate products are fractionated and produced, investments have been and continue to be focused on doubling the capacity of the cold room for storage of the plasma pockets for fractionation, installing new tools for tripling plasma fractionation capacity, and optimization of existing production units. LFB Biomedicaments will be able to fractionate 1.4 million litres of plasma in 2011.

- In Lille, where the bulk of protein purification operations and biological safety steps are performed, up to the pharmaceutical form of the drugs, facilities have been optimized in order to produce twice as many therapeutic proteins by 2011. 25 million euros have been spent building a new production facility dedicated to LFB's new immunoglobulin.
